California Gewurztraminer grape juice produces highly aromatic, full bodied white wines defined by rich tropical fruit such as mango, peach, apricot and bright passion fruit.
Gewurztraminer is high in natural sugar and its grapes carry a dark pink color, resulting in wines that range from light to dark golden yellow with a copper tone.
Aromas can include rose petals, fresh honey and lychee. Notes can include ginger, clove and sweet baking spices. The German word Gewurz translates directly to spice.
Gewurztraminer generally has lower acid than Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc. It is commonly blended with high acid grapes such as Riesling or Chardonnay to balance its rich body, low natural acidity and intense aromatic profile.
