California Burgundy grape juice is a classic blend producing smooth, medium bodied wines with balanced fruit and easy drinking character. Look for vibrant red fruit and smooth tannin. A good fit for home winemakers after an approachable everyday red table wine.
The blend follows no single recipe. Components can include Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, used for deep color, body and firm tannin. Classic or older California varieties such as Carignane, Ruby Cabernet, Syrah, Alicante Bouschet and Barbera may also be added for fruitiness, acid and complexity.
